A Great Hunger for the Word in Angola
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6 KJV)
While in Germany, Brother Byskal and Brother Dodd sat down with ministers from Angola who had a desire to share their great need. The need is for Portuguese Message Books. It seemed strange to us to hear that they had a great need for Message Books as we were aware of a container load of books that had been recently printed and shipped from Brother Fabriono in Brazil, which supplied 600,000 books for Angola. It seemed strange that the brothers had only received a few books out of this great supply. It was only after hearing that there may be 800,000 to 1 million
believers in Angola, that the puzzle began to be solved. Even 600,000 books is only a tiny part of what is needed in that country.
To be able to supply even half of the Message of the Hour to Angolan Believers in book form would take hundreds of millions of dollars.
But there is an answer.
Thanks to the Message Hub Mobile Application, all translations can be loaded and linked to the Portuguese Bible for use by the Believers. The Brothers informed us that smart phones were becoming common in their country, and their eyes began to light up with the possibilities of each Believer having possession of all translations and being regularly updated automatically.
There is an immediate need for Portuguese speaking Believers with Internet access to contribute to this project. We know and trust that the Lord will provide for this work and we are working diligently to make this happen as soon as possible.
There is also a need for print stations in Angola to provide books where electronic devices are not available. In 2015 we reported on the first print station installed in the capital city of Luanda. This print station is sponsored by Brother Jason Jackson’s assembly in Arkansas. Since installation, tens of thousands of Portuguese Message books have been printed and distributed. They are currently printing 3,000 books and pamphlets per month, and distributing them to 26 churches. Yet that one print station alone cannot meet so great a demand that is in Angola. We thank God for this work even while we pray that the Lord provide for these hungry Believers.
